1) Have food
2) Go to where people give pigeons food
3) Feed them a lot, where they're all around you.
4) Sneak up behind the closest one to grabbin' distance
5) Slowly crouch
6) Quickly, but gently pin the bird, sort of creating a cage with your hand. You want to keep those fingers spread.
7) Secure it with your other hand
8) Hold, but don't squeeze! (Of course.)
They calm down pretty fast. I wonder if they were just tame, or if they just don't put up much of a fight. They don't seem to freak out much after they probably realize you're not trying to eat them.
